CF411 Eligibility Evidence Updated: 15 December 2025

1) HRP claim online

Use the GOV.UK CF411 route to claim missing HRP or request a partner transfer. Have your NI number, Child Benefit dates, and a one-page annex with clean, dated exhibits ready. Online is usually fastest.

2) HRP claim form

Prefer post? Use the CF411 postal form. Enclose your annex and labelled exhibits (A/B/C codes). Keep copies; send tracked if possible.

3) HMRC HRP checker / eligibility checker ‘free’

Quick clarification: There isn’t an official “checker” tool.

The real check is your NI record and State Pension forecast: look for gap years that overlap Child Benefit/caring. Evanshaw offers a free pre-check and annex build.

4) HRP qualifying years

HRP protected pension entitlement from 6 Apr 1978 to 5 Apr 2010. Carer-route HRP applied up to 5 Apr 2002 with 35h/week caring and a qualifying benefit for the cared-for person.

5) HRP claim for deceased person

Executors/administrators can pursue missing HRP and any arrears due. Include authority (grant of probate or letters of administration) and the death certificate, plus the annex and exhibits.

6) HRP claim calculator

There’s no official calculator. Estimate impact by comparing your before/after State Pension forecasts once HRP is added. We can model scenarios if you upload your PDFs.

7) Home Responsibilities Protection Martin Lewis

Media and MSE coverage highlight the pre-May 2000 Child Benefit risk. Use the official claim route and send an annex with Child Benefit and address/identity bridges.

8) Transfer HRP between partners

If Child Benefit was in the other partner’s name while you were the main carer, apply to transfer HRP. Evidence should show residence and main-carer context for the period claimed.

9) What evidence do I need for HRP?

A-series

Child Benefit (awards, bank refs, HMRC letters).

B-series

Care/school/medical.

C-series

Identity/address bridges (ID, marriage/deed poll, council tax, tenancy, utilities).

Best practice: map each exhibit to the correct tax year in a one-page annex.

10) How long do HRP corrections take and will I get arrears?

Timelines vary with volumes and evidence quality. When HRP is added your NI record updates, your pension may be recalculated, and arrears can be paid where underpaid. Keep a dated contact log.
